Climbing Romsdalshorn with Nordvall Mountain Guiding!

When you see Romsdalshorn from the valley floor all you want is to reach it´s top – it´s one of the most famous summits in the whole country for a good reason! 
You have come to the right place if you want a secure, professional experience to reach this famous peak. 

We will choose between the “Normal way” through Halls Renne or the “Nordveggen” – depending on the conditions and our interests for the day. Both routes offer a beautiful way up the mountain, but with very different characteristics. 

Climbing Nordveggen  to Romsdalshorn

Our journey starts in the charming Vengedalen Valley, a short drive from Åndalsnes. We’ll begin by approaching along a very beautiful trail leading us to great scenic spots to look over the Romsdal valley. 

As we progress along the ridge, we’ll reach the “Gap”, the start point where we’ll prepare for the technical rope work that lies ahead. While the initial 100 meters involve relatively easy scrambling, the terrain gradually steepens, necessitating pitch climbing and climbing up to grade 4 (Norwegian) to reach the summit. Expect around six pitches, covering approximately 200 meters of ascent. Soon you can proudly look over the infamous Troll Wall, the Romsdalen Valley and say that you have climbed Romsdalshorn. 

Repelling down

For our descent, we’ll use the same route we ascended, rappelling safely back down. Typically, we start our adventure at 07:00, and the entire journey can take between 6-8 hours.

Level and Recommendations

Although the overall altitude gain is moderate at about 800 meters, a significant portion of the ascent involves rope work in exposed terrain. Therefore, prior experience with heights and mountaineering is strongly recommended.
